While it's not the best school in the world it does have some positive attributes. When dealing with Mr. Cook, the principal, I found him a fair and decent person. ... Read more some that do not want to teach, but there are others there that seem very dedicated to their job. My child was in 2nd grade this past year and her teacher was always very pleasant and accomodating. Overall, I liked Bakerfield. Read less

I currently have a 3rd grader enrolled at bakerfield. It's been a difficult year and a terrible experience. The principal, mr. Cook, is completely all talk and no walk. He refuses to meet with parents regarding their concerns, he won't even respond to messages/faxes that parents send to his attention

The teachers in 3rd grade don't really seem to teach, they are disorganized, don't seem to get along with each other well, and on the several occasions that i have gone to school to eat lunch with my child, they do not even acknowledge my presence with a simple hello. They discourage parent involvement. The kids watch movies all of the time as if it were a daycare. I am moving to save my child from the issues in this school district. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
