I attended Bullitt Central a few years ago, and upon me leaving I found that I was completely unprepared for college. I don't mean that in the sense of knowledge, I mean I simply don't have the classes required to get in. So, thanks to this wonderful high school, I now have to pay for these classes at

Another note: While I do respect the JROTC program, they obviously are trying to recruit students straight from high school. I had quite a few friends from HS leave and join straight into the army. It's like BC thinks everyone from Shepherdsville is either going to play sports or join the army, otherwise go nowhere. Read less

I have a child attending Bullitt Central. While there a some good teacher's there, there are even more bad teacher's! They care more about sports and dress code, then the kids getting an education. My child has come to me several time's with things that I have taken to school and nothing has been done.
... Read more I as a parent am not notified until it's just about too late when it comes to failing grades. This school needs more teachers that care about the students passing then about a dress code or the sports program!!! Read less

As a parent, I must say I am impressed with the direction that B.C. is going. The leadership program is top notch as it requires the students to be involved in the community and the AP program is preparing kids for college if they choose to make the effort. While their CATS scores may be borderline,

They have a highly competitive Academic team and Future Business Leaders of America program, and also have a bowling team. They have a SADD organization and an agricultural program that is the only ones in the county. Like any organization, there are some individuals that are not the greatest, but BC has been wonderful for my children. T.D. Read less

The pro and cons of any school are going to vary. Bullitt Central is a small school that consist of some very respectable and determind people. Bullitt Central may not be the worst school, but it is close to it. I have been here for four years, although I am about to graduate, I would still like to warn anyone in the near future who will be attending this school. The academic programs are not horrible nor are they excellent. There are teachers

Then there are the teachers there who work with the students and get them envolved, and I compliment them. but watch out, it your child get the bad teachers, there is absolutly nothing you can do, because they do not care! I myself, a current student at Bullitt Central, think that you will get out of education what you put into it. While, Bullitt Central may not have a reputation for being the best of schools, it is certainly not the worst either. The opportunity is there, it's just a matter of pushing forward and trying.
... Read more From my understanding, the only problem with the school seems to be too much focus on minor disciplinary issues, and I agree 110%. I think the disciplinary plan should be revised and edited, but other than that I think the school has done all it can and it is left up to the students. Another, issues that may have an effect on the school would be it's block sceduling ( 4 classes , 1 1/2 hours long) vs. a 6 period day ( 6 classes, 1 hour long)This could be reflected in CATS scores. My daughter dropped out of BC (9-7-04) due to stress that she encountered there. She, being a little larger (endowed) than the young ladies that are in the 'in crowd,' would often get into trouble for wearing the same clothes that they were allowed to wear (even though slightly out of dress code complience.)
... Read more She was absent due to an illness quite often and the attendance 'police' would be very rude to her about it, even knowing that it would be excused by her physician. As a past student of this school (which I loved in the 1970's) it has been very difficult for me to deal with the thought of my child not graduating. However, the staff there didn't seem to mind her leaving (no attempt to try an alternative.) She was not a discipline problem, other than attendance & clothes. A good note, she has already recieved her GED. Read less

As a current student, I have been introduced to the worst education in my life. There are some great teachers there, don't get me wrong, but when the school places more emphasis on CATS scores than on educating the students, things certainly can not be right.

* In 2007-2008 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in several subjects. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The results reflect the performance of students enrolled for at least 100 days before testing. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky. KCCT academic indices range between 0 and 140, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
