The principal Ms. Keith is awesome and my son absolutely loves the In-house MST program. I gave Shacklette a chance and I don't see the problems talked about in these reviews. Ms. Keith is always there when I have a question or concern. The teachers are very hard workers and really care about the kids.

I have had 3 children attending Shacklette. The principal Ms. Keith has been an invaluable source of help regarding my children. I had 2 special needs children attend the school. I have seen nothing but growth since she came to the school. I am a very involved parent. I am the chairperson of the board of the advisory council for the family resourse center. I encourage parents to schedule a meeting with the principal. Get to know her for yourself. Read less

I also have a child attending Shacklette and I have to say that I am not really impressed with what I have seen. I feel as does a lot of other that Shacklette needs new management. And after reading the test scores of these kids, I feel that it is not the childern but the ones leading them. They are

I totally disagree with all of these ratings. I think Shacklette has a great leader and a very supportive staff. Everything Mrs. Keith does at Shacklette is for the benefit of the students. Because of her our students now have an In-house MST program, more extracurricular activities, and family nights.

I am dissapointed in the negative comments made about Shacklette and its leadership. I have never felt unwelcomed by anyone at the school. Parents and school staff should work together, in order for the child to have a positive learning experience. What kind of message does it send when you speak so negatively about someone or something? Try to look for the good in all things! Read less

I am also a parent of a child that attends Shacklette. And I am seriously thinking of removing my child from this school as well. I have a 4th grader that might have to adjust to a new school, new classmates, new teacher, new routine. Just because of how Shacklette is ran. People say parents should get

Anytime you try to talk to the principal, nothing gets done. I have seen and heard numurous reports of bullies, fights, and favoritism. But nothing is ever done about it. No wonder all the good staff members has left. No wonder parents are sending their children to other schools. Something needs to be done. Now the question is, who is going to do something about this? Someone needs to do their job here! If not the principal then who? Read less

I have had several children attend Shacklette Elementary. It use to be a good school. Since 2003 I have seen great teachers, many that have been there for years, flee the school and the current principal in a mass exit. I am at the school for all activities and have witnessed very upsetting things.
... Read more I have seen teachers insulted and humiliated in front of parents and students by the principal. The recent Christmas program was a disaster. Students were told they would perform. They and their teachers practiced hard for thier moment in the spotlight. On the day they were to perform for parents and the school, the principal refused to let them perform. These students were crushed and will never be able to make up this missed opportunity. The teachers at Shacklette are great and work hard to have my children do well in school. I commend them for their hard work in a school that is ran so poorly by the current leadership. Read less

Shacklette use to be a wonderful school until the present principal took over. The former principal wasn't the greatest but at least she was friendly and not so hard to talk to. Lucky my last child was a 5th grader last year and she had a wonderful group of teachers who all left at the end of last year. They just couldn't take the principal anymore and the staff turn around. I saw that 10-15 staff members left every year because of the principal. I'm glad my children are in other schools now. Read less
* In 2007-2008 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in several subjects. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The results reflect the performance of students enrolled for at least 100 days before testing. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky. KCCT academic indices range between 0 and 140, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
