this is the first school i've stayed at for along time and i wouldn't change the school for anything, the teachers and staff are awesome...they respect you and treat you like an adult. The sports there are the best the coaches are awesome and push you to do your best.

HCHS has a lot going for it. The teachers are above average for such a small area. The schools weakness is that they do not do a great job with the brightest students. I'm not a parent, but I am a college student having graduated from HCHS two years ago. Because it is so small it is very cliquish and there is great favoritism towards select groups. i really enjoyed going to Hancock County High but there was a lot of trouble there also. Teachers and staff liked to play favortism and stuff and i was not all about that. The academic programs at HCHS are at a moderate standard. For the teachers they bicker as much or some even more than the students. * In 2007-2008 Kentucky used the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT) to assess students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 through 12 in several subjects. The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The results reflect the performance of students enrolled for at least 100 days before testing. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky. KCCT academic indices range between 0 and 140, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
