Our son attended Wyandotte and it was great! We supported his teachers and staff 110% so we were a force to be reckoned with. We didn't wait on a call or report card time, we were in constant touch with the teachers. We taught him proper behavior and respect towards adults regardless if you don't agree

I graduated in Class of '92 from Wyandotte! I love the school, but I do not like its current structure. The benchmarks are terrible and the classes are ran off of them, instead of giving my son valuable information that he will need in life. I believe with these Benchmarks, our children are being set
... Read more up for failure and I wish the Board would reconsider using them as the basis for classes. Another thing I don't like is how high school students are forced into picking a trade...most adults don't know what they want to do, so how will a high school student know what they want to do in life, then they are forced into taking those specific classes all year without changing. That is torture to our children! Alleviate that torture and go back to teaching 'real' classes with homework and everything! Read less

My son is a freshman @ this school. He had a terrible time during the 1st quarter. Now yes he did cause some trouble. However once you get into trouble one time, the teachers seem to label your child as just that, & not willing to help them turn their lives around. I must say that it has been a constant

As a Former Student and paraeducator of Wyandotte HS, I am proud of the history and academic acheivements of my fellow Bulldogs. Honestly, I believe the lack of funding plays a huge part in the current state of academic life at 'the Dotte'. I am aware of the problems, all schools have theri own. in

My son goes to school here as did I. I think that the problem with Wyandotte isn't the teachers or leadership, it's the fact that we have parents now that are just lazy and don't participate in their childs education. I have been to parent teacher conf. 3 years now and each time I was able to speak

Wyandotte High School is definately headed in the right direction. You see a strong dedication from teachers at this institution. With that, comes a dedication from students to apply themselves in their class work. You also have a very strong dedication from those that coach the different extracurricular

In sports, but most importantly school work, you have to show dedication, vision and maturity. I am very dissapointed in parent involvement. Parents have to realize that the support they give their children does not end when they reach the school doors, it should also carry over into the building. I hear lots of complaints from parents on what the school does and does not do...and it's usually from parents that spend little to no time at the school or events. Read less

This is a wonderful school with teachers who truly care about students. Since the implementation of First Things First and the creation of the Small Learning Communities, Wyandotte High has improved both reading and math scores... and they continue to rise. Regarding discipline, it is true that strict policies are enforced, but that is due to the fact that the principal and teachers have high expectations of students. It's a shame that anyone has time to type a negative comment about Wyandotte. Don't you think your time would be better spent by trying to build a better relationship with your child's teachers rather than complaining? Read less

This school is a joke. It's a shame that sports is pushed onto these kids while they sink further behind the curb of life. I graduted a semester early and no longer had to attend classes at this school but I found it to be the worst period of my life. * In 2007-2008 Kansas used the Kansas State Assessments (KSA) to test students in grades 3 though 8 and 11 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 11 in science; and in grades 6, 8 and 11 in history-government. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kansas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
