Calumet is a 'middle of the road' school. By far not the best in area and not the worst. I have found the guidance counselors a total and utter disappointment. The teachers here are great; unfortunately, this is a poor district and the majority of the extra-curricular activities are being cut. There is limited parental support; but, if a student wants to work extra, the teachers will almost always stay after to help their students.

I found Calumet High School to be more challenging than college, and even law school. The teachers were great and really cared about the students; however, the guidance counselors were horrible. None of them ever met with me to discuss my post-secondary educational goals.

* In 2008-2009 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 10 in English/language arts and math, and in grades 5 and 7 in science. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana.
