I have to disagree with the other reviews...I have had 3 children in HC and I am not impressed. We now send our children to a private school where their confidence has risen as well as their academic performance. I find HC's greatest quality to be physical facilities. There are some excellent teachers

The teachers are kind, supportive and highly competent not only in academics, but in their personal relationships

The emphasis on life skills and lifelong guidelines support parents' efforts to develop academic and social standards that will serve the students well for years to come. As an over protective parent with very high expectations, I send my chidren off every morning without worry, knowing they will receive quality education in a nurturing, stimulating environment. I'm not a parent, but a student who now atends Hickory Center. I would have to say that Hickory Center is a great school! The teachers are all so nice and helpful. I will dearly miss Hickory Center next year when I go to Carroll Middle School. If you're looking for a school to go to, choose Hickory Center.

The choir participates in 'Circle The State', whereby students join with other school's choirs to perform together. Students can also audition for the Indiana State Honor Choir if recommended by their music teacher. The driving force behind Hickory Center's excellence is the active presence and leadership of Rick Vorick, principal. He is on a first-name basis with every student in the school. * In 2008-2009 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 10 in English/language arts and math, and in grades 5 and 7 in science. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.

Advanced Placement

Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
