I agree with the one parent who stated that if your child excels, parents will find this to be a great school. Children that do struggle tend to fall through the cracks. In addition, Floyd Central's art programs have greatly benefited from attention from not only the state, but the nation and even the international scene. Though there may not be a lot of diversity at FC, that doesn't by any means make us hillbillies. I have never heard a slur against anyone based on their race, ethnicity, or religion. All in all, I am proud to call myself a Floyd Central Highlander. Read less

* In 2008-2009 Indiana used the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus (ISTEP+) assessment to test students in grades 3 through 10 in English/language arts and math, and in grades 5 and 7 in science. The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.
