Schools that work have 3 components: the student, parent, and the school. Parents in these schools attend school board meetings, they ask questions, they are aware of current trends in schools that work,and lastly, they hold the schools accountable for academics, as well as extracurricular activities

... Read more to teach,not to babysit 'your kids'. The students will not respect the staff, if they don't respect you!.(parents). Good education starts at home. Monitor your kids activites outside of the home. Get to understand the differences between your child telling you a lie,and telling you the truth. Build trust amoung them,and stress how important it is to 'Stay in School'. If I can raise 3 kids alone,whom all have graduated without letting 'peer pressure' get in the way,then you can do it too!. This school is definitely a product of its environment. Parents are not involved at all and the state of poverty in the city makes this a haven for students who are not really trying to succeed. As for this school not preparing you for college...this is true. I am currently finishing up my college
... Read more degree and feel that there is a lot of extra effort required to meet writing requirements at the University level. I even went through the honors program. I went back to visit and even the most excited teachers while I attended are now dejected. This school has adequate facilities though and for being the only choice I believe they have made a lot of effort. Read less

Our school is lacking many funds when it comes to the music and art. The school city has favorites, such as basketball. It receives the majority of our funding while other sports and activities are left to fend for themselves.Parents are only involved when they have to be, which is mostly when a student is in trouble. I think this is a good school considering the fact that it is the only high school in the city. it has an excellent educational facility as well as a good faculty. Also they have a good athletic department. However, I do think this school does not receive the funding from the state that they need.

This high school does a poor job of preparing theri students for college. Many students that graduate from this high school struggle significantly in college. A lot of the problems is due to the corruption that is rampent in the city which trickles down to the school system.
