Bloomington North is a great community and a decent academic school. Its strength is in its diverse student body, which includes students from around the world. Many IU professors send their students to North, which I think affirms its academic reputation. As mentioned by others, the teachers are hit

As for the administration, the dress code is a joke and discipline also a joke. If you need something to get done, there is only one administrator out of four that teachers go to for results. I have had two kids at North, one graduated in 2005 and one graduates this year. We had a choice where to send our kids and we chose North. The principals have changed over the years, but the educational experience has been consistent. Some teachers are excellent, others mediocre, but both our kids had an outstanding academic experience, accepted at excellent universities. One major plus for North: Habitat for Humanity. This activity is life changing for students and only available only at North. Read less

The ISTEP+ is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Indiana. High school students are required to pass the grade 10 ISTEP+ to receive a high school diploma. The goal is for all students to score at the passing level on the test.
