Both of my sons attend SGS and I think it is a very good school. The kids are engaged and learning, but they aren't bogged down with too much busywork...yet. My two are in 1st and 3rd and I was told it gets more intense in 4th grade. My youngest was behind a bit when he came into 1st grade, and the

Our school is great and love our teachers! We re having budget problems and are headed for more cuts, but we are making the best of it. The superintendent and our principal live in another state and don t care about our financial situation. Our School Board doesn t seem to know what they are doing awarding expensive contracts, expensive fringe benefits, and giving 60 sick days to administrators because there wasn t money for large raises. We will have 4 new school board members in the spring and hopefully this will help the situation. We have the best PTO in Illinois! Read less

* In 2007-2008 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
