Maine East was awesome when I attended. Very diverse. There are over 50 languages spoken in the halls, and it's a good environment for teenagers to learn about different cultures. Many of the teachers were awesome, and the AP programs rocked.

... Read more there sometimes are fights between students. Yes, our athletic record is less than superb. But Maine East is an incredible place to learn. Our gifted program offers great opportunites. Our school also offers an incredibly helpful remedial program. Aditionally, most of the teachers genuinely care about their students. Maine East also boasts a highly diverse enviorment. Though some students do not excel academically, there are many that do. I, for one, have a 4.8 GPA and know many others that do the same. Overall, Maine East offers great oportunities and is highly under rated by many. Read less

This school is amazing. Don't let test scores fool you...Maine East has one of the top academic programs in the country. Plenty of our kids are living in poverty. I'm POSITIVE that if everyone in the school were more willing to learn (and didn't have to work hard at home trying to put food on the table),

... Read more or bullying. It occurs very rarely. This school may not be perfect, but I would say it is pretty close to being so. No school is all perfect. There are always tiny flaws in every school, and often times many people try to point it out and put the school down. So parents, I recommend kids to be sent to this school. Though many negative rumors go around about this school, the truth of the matter is, Maine East not only has a highly acknowledge past, it has an acknowledged presentand soon to be future. Read less

I am a M.E. alumni from the class of 2000. This school is an accurate dose of the real world. I loved being able to befriend people from different backgrounds. Your child will not be judged by the brand of clothing he/she wears. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Parents are encouraged to be involved.

I have two children, one who is in elementary school, and one who goes to Maine East. I will make sure that my second child does NOT go to Maine East. It's academic programs are not bad, but the people there are not so good. And there is hardly any level of parent involvement.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
