We couldn't be happier with Sacred Heart. Our oldest child will be entering high school next year, and has tested into all honors classes. We have 2 boys at SHS, As a family we love our shcool. Mr. Benning has been VERY involved in our school and it shows. I hope he makes MORE of the NECESSARY changes in our Math program. Fr. Tom has also been a great change in our shcool. With the two of them leading our school, I can only see great things ...  Read more

Mr Benning has made a huge impact and is more receptive than anyone in the past. Changes in math are necessary as SHS kids are behind in math when the get to high school. Mr Benning is helping the 'advanced' kids with algebra but the rest of the kids are lacking in keeping on track in math.

Now that we have a new principal (Mr Benning), things are improving! Fr Tom as the adminstrator is a huge asset. High parental involvement. Lots of sports options, not enough music classes.

Advanced Placement

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.

Before/After School

"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Vocation/Technical Curriculum

Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.

Special Education Classes

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.

Adult Education Classes

Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.

English as Second Language

English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
