I am an 8th grader at Geneva Middle School. This school, in all honesty, is a great school. I have been to another school in the area, and I think the curriculum is better here, and the teachers make it easier to understand. The administration, however, is not as good as the school. My parents, and other

Overall, the school is great (I mean, for a school, it's not like I want to go on Saturdays or anything). The highschool is great too, and the entire district offers great extracurriculars. The sports teams are great, and there is an activity for everyone. GMS is a great school. Read less

The halls are crowded. The lunches short. Busses run late ( I got home at 4) Classes easy, but some teachers do not even teach, they act more like babysitters than educators. This school was so bad I refused to go back for the graduation ceremony.

Geneva Middle school is crowded. The administration is not communicating effectively. One leader says one thing; and the next day they are contradicted by another authority figure. Just when we think we have a problem solved, another administrator steps in. I can only speak of our experience. But

If we were living in a poor inter-city neighborhood with inadequate funding, I could understand the difficulties in putting the needs of the children first. But in a wealthy, well funded school district, I cannot understand. The curriculum is mediocre. Although the school speaks about wanting to work with parents to resoolve differences and solve problems, that has not been our experience. Frankly, I feel that the underfunded innercity school I attended did a better job. Sad. Read less
* In 2007-2008 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
