Our elementary aged son has been at Chiaravalle since he was in the toddler program, and has thrived. The academics in elementary are outstanding. The school emphasizes the social and emotional development of the children, and offers a warm, welcoming environment with dedicated faculty.

My oldest child is now in a very large high school and I constantly hear from his teachers that he is a skilled class leader: 'I can put him with any group of students and he knows how to motivate them and get everyone to do their best.' These skills are a direct consequence of an education that focuses on the process of learning and social and emotional development, not just the processing and reproduction of information. Our daughter loves going to Chiaravalle. She is just finishing her kindergarten year, and the curriculum is rich and engaging, covering cultural, social, and scientific areas as well as the math, language, and practical life. She is reading at a second grade level. Our children have thrived in a school

I chose Chiaravalle Montessori School for my son not once, but twice. I knew before my children were born I wanted a Montessori education for them. When my eldest was 16 months old he was accepted the two local Montessori schools for the parent-child program. I chose Chiaravalle because of the warm reception
... Read more I received from the administration during my tour; and, because I what I witnessed on the playground during several visits = respect. Older children were respectful of themselves, each other and elders; and, most impressive the older children were engaging the younger children. My children have been valued and respected as individuals. They have been nurtured by faculty and encouraged by a tremendous set teachers. The bar was held high for my son and he soared. His kindergarten years was amazing! My son loves to go to school every day at Chiaravalle. 1st grade is equally terrific! Read less

I have my daugter at this school in the 3-6 year program for the last two years. I believe the school is one of the better ones in following the Montessori method. ... Read more off approach that the teachers seem to have regarding various instances amongst the children. I believe they may carry the approach a little too far and leave too many problems that normally occur amonst children up to the children. They are not nuturing and are even cold in their relations with the children. During these first years, it is important to feel that your teacher is happy to have you in the class and not a burden. ... Read more Montessori philosophy was a good match for my son but I had no idea how comprehensive the kindergarten curriculum was at Chiaravalle. When the school says they offer science, I had no idea my son would be learning every bone in the body, or extensive details about the solar system and the list goes on. When I went to observe my son in the classroom, I was surprised to notice other kindergarteners working on multiplication, counting money and advanced reading. Chiaravalle is not true to Montessori philosophy and practice. This is our second year at the school and I have seen teacher turn around too often which does not follow the idea of 1 teacher for a 2-3 year cycle. ... Read more absolute gem. The physical facility, location, teacher and staff quality and curriculum design are all excellent. The Middle School has proved to be a capstone experience-- rigorous and imaginative academics (good prep for high school) with superior attention to each child's social and personal development. There have been some changes recently--the new Head of School has been strengthening the academic rigor of the curriculum and the professionalism of the staff. This bodes well for the future of the school even if it is unsettling at the moment for some families who must endure staff turnover mid-cycle. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
