The Academy has deteriorated in many ways. The lower and middle schools have suffered in the quality of their teachers. Their admission standards are lower than they have ever been, and the academic standards are consequently lower. Poor leadership is evident, and the curriculum has been watered down.

This year, of all years, the tuition for the Academy begs the question: 'is it worth it?' The answer is a definitive yes. Starting in preschool students become members of this diverse community which provides interaction between and among kids from age three to eighteen. Elgin Academy no longer deserves its reputation. Their admission standards have suffered, resulting in a lower academic standard in curriculum and student ability. The faculty is not as good as it has been in the past. Their leadership is not very strong, and the school has deteriorated.

Elgin Academy offers small class sizes and curricular flexibility. Our Middle School boy has been at EA for many years and is flourishing. Highly recommend.

My son attends PreK at Elgin Academy and he loves it. The academic program is very enriching and everything they learn seems to be through exploring and hands on experience. Wonderful teachers. Good first experience for young children.

I think this is clearly the best school around. The small class sizes (12-15 students on average) make it possible for teachers to really know the kids. Academic problems are quickly noticed and corrected in such an environment. When my kids are doing homework, I see my younger daughter helping my older

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
