13 Parent Reviews for Woodlawn Community School

I was not a fan of Woodlawn Elementary. My daughter went there for Kindergarten and I transferred her out. They do not have alot of resources at all. The school is under funded in so many ways than one. The after school program only allows just a handful of students in, First come first serve is a joke. ...  Read more

I transferred my son out of this school and after 1 school year at another school, I asked him how much did he miss Woodlawn and he begin to tear up and asked me can we not talk about it because he misses this school sooo much. I love Woodlawn. I will try to move closer just so that my son can get back ...  Read more

As a parent with three children at Woodlawn I really appreciated finding this school. It provides a very good enviroment for nurturing confidence and self-respect in children. The prinicipal is very dedicated to saving every child. Unfortunately many of the parents do not appreciate that concept. I was ...  Read more

I love Woodlawn School they have helped my son develop great reading skills. He has become very confident about his self, he once was a very shy child but not anymore.

It barely has resources. When I first went it was brillant but only because the last school my son came from was a nightmare. It's not suitable for students who have a learning disability. It's not structured correctly. It's political.

Woodlawn provides a safe, quiet school environment, small class size, gym, music, student banking program, before and afterschool programs, and some first-rate teachers. ...  Read more

With all of the politics involved with finding a good public school for children, I was very pleased when I discovered Woodlawn four years ago. One of my daughters finished sixth grade last year and before she attended Woodlawn she was at a school where she was demeaned for talking polite and doing ...  Read more

The teachers/staff are very caring, nurturing, dedicated and motivated to teach the children. They are giving the children their all. We have some very hard working dedicated volunteer parents and when I can't be there this helps to stay in my comfort zone.I agree that the building needs to be updated ...  Read more

Woodlawn USE to be a great small school but Woodlawn is declining fast. Academics is low. Additionally, my childs last homeroom last was going through a lot of personal issues this past year and her class suffered terribly from it. Lastly, the school building itself is unsafe with it's constant construction ...  Read more

My son is in his second year at Woodlawn and I wish I had found it earlier. I have been very pleased. While the fine arts programs are limited due to the fact this is a small school, there is an emphasis on exposing the children to different things to make them well-rounded individuals.
