I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone who is interested in quality education. To get right to the point, the students are not monitored, they are constantly fighting, there is absolutely nothing done about it. My child spent one year and has not grown academically from anything St. Margaret has

A science project, but my daughter says she doesn't have science in her class. They have'nt had any social science work, research or projects. It's May and she hasn't covered 2 digit math, for that matter lots of math skills were skipped. They did'nt start in a reading book until after christmas. There's lots of learning opportunities that are passed. Students should have writing journals with different forms of writing. No black history research, life cycles, etc Read less

This is not a good school academically or socially. I have taught primary grades for years and I know the importance. It's lots of extra programs and there's after-care if you need it . My child is in First Grade and has had to learn to fight for protection, web-site says technology, but theres 1

I feel that I have wasted money and time now I have to start over looking for another school. Don't make an appointment just stop by and watch school at dismissal, walk into after-care and talk to some other parents you will see first hand. Ask teachers about technology projects, eigth graders (no counselor) about transitioning into high schools, principal about discipline plan does he use it. Read less

This is a GREAT school! For those who may not know, the principal is a former alumnus of the school. He completed his Master's at SXU, not too far from the school. Surely he could go elsewhere (CPS)and make much more money (esp. bcz he does coach & teach.) My point is that he CHOOSES to be here. If that

Kids receive individual asstnce. with guidance counseling, even though there is not a true guidance counselor on staff. The teachers help with high school choices and they make sure that the students complete scholarship apps to potentially offset the cost of H.S. A good exp. of this school's caring enrironment is when a sutdent's home caught fire recently (last year too,) the teachers and staff & fellow students all rallied to raise money! Read less

I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone! My kids have been there two years and it is the worst. The principal is afraid to speak up to his teachers, he works as the office clerk, sometimes principal, aftercare teacher, etc. He can't get one thing done in the importance of the students. There is no

I must say the foundation Pre-K-3 at St. Margaret and the daily instructions of the catholic faith is highly commendable. My main concerns at this point of time is upper grade. I've had nothing but headaches and stress this school year. Frankly, do feel a child will not adequately be prepared going

Many of the teachers I feel no longer have the passion to teach in a loving and caring way (a paycheck). There is a lot of hollering and uncontrolled classrooms. Very understaffed (for example. the principal is coach and religion teacher), so child is subject to what's called busy work or no work. This may very well be lack of resources but ultimately the child pays. Finally, the overall cleaniness of the school is less than desireable. Read less

Given the lack of resources that Catholic schools have, I find it amazing that the teachers are able to acomplish what they are. It is a very caring, Christian environment.
