I'm a junior at St. Ignatius and this is a great school for kids to attend. The curriculum is excellent. This is really a school for kids who are willing to work hard and learn. I could not recommend this school more highly. It challenges your mind in ways I feel most of friends at other selective high schools have not yet been challenged. SICP teaches you to think, not to cram information into your head just before the test. Yes, I spent many midnight hours awake finishing

Also, the teachers here are fabulous and I could not say bad things about any of them (at least, now that I'm done with their tests and assignments ). Extra-curriculars were great, but not the emphasis. Service was an important part of our education. The school truly lives out its motto, 'Men and women for others.' I loved my experience here. In my time here at St. Ignatius I have found the opportunities unbelievable. The emphasis on the humanities and liberal arts was extremely welcoming after visiting so many schools that consider them secondary, at best, to the sciences. While I have had some sub par teachers, overall the quality (particular

Furthermore, while the band is decent and the choir only somewhat above average, the orchestra goes far beyond expectations. As for extracurriculars, I have only good things to say. The Model United Nations team is, in particular, an amazing asset to the school, as demonstrated by its consistently achieving top honors in international competitions across the country. Overall, I see very few ways in which my experience here could have been better. Read less

In my experience, the only peopl who do not like Ignatius are those who do not get in or do not do well. It does get stressful, keeping up with the assignments and extracurriculars, but it is completely and utterly worth it. I am sure other schools can have, say, a more advanced music program, or art

My time at SICP was the toughest and most rewarding time in my educational career. I'm in grad school now, and I still don't feel as challenged as I was back when I was a student at St. Ignatius. The teachers are top-notch and the Vice President of Development is someone every student and parent should get to know... While SICP's reputation for academics is well-known throughout the Chicago-land area, every Ignatian knows that the greatest lessons of St. Ignatius consist of the concept of 'the grad at grad,' an idea that all graduates are not just academically prepared for college, but 'people of depth,' or more accurately, 'men and women for others.' I graduated from SICP in 2007 and those four years were the best.
