My daughter went to Sayre for Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Kindergarten was fabulous. Her teacher, Mr. Leatherwood, taught the class as if the entire class was gifted, then worked with the ones who needed extra help. However, 1st grade was another thing. Even after we were promised that the more advanced

I don't think Sayre is equiped to deal with kids who may have more advanced skills in one or more areas, but are not ready to skip an entire grade. Also, the after school 'cooking class' was a joke. Parent of 6th grader and 3rd grader. Love her in my class!' and then a month later I'd get the report card showing c's. Where were the A's? My solution to this was to simply spend more time monitoring homework and tutoring. Perhaps the classes are too big for the teachers to provide the one on one attention I am accustomed to. Overall, I think it is a good school and my kids love it and feel safe. Read less
