I'm a North-Grand senior class of 2009, the second graduating class of the school. My experience in programs and learning has been challenging. In North-Grand I have accomplished subjects and complex problems that I thought I couldn't complete. I accept that there are few undesirable complications.
... Read more The school is in a very difficult adapting environment to various students. The school offers extracurricular activities frequently. The sports help restrain violence against NGHS students whether they are freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Assistance is given through-out the school year, the guilt is that some students refuse to ask for assistance or accept it. Yes, people including myself dislike the school polo shirts and does not offer enough extracurricular activities, that does not mean the school is lame. The school has assisted me when I have needed it. Why? because I ask. It is not hard to ask for help and it shouldn't be. Read less

My daughter use to go to North Grand, she was having difficulties with reading and needed extra help, my daughter felt as if the teachers treated her like she was stupid, so in turn she became demotivated, disconnected, fell further behind and started to miss days, she could not deal with having a learning

I like North Grand H.S. Its pretty good for a public school and surprised me when my grandson entered as a Freshman and is now a Junior. He's in accelerated classes and doing well...I'm proud of that (I expected it of him). He didn't let me down. I taught him to read and write when he was 3 years

Well North-grand High school is very nice & wonderful school when it comes to learning and the atmospher, but the thing with this school is that the students dont have any say so it what goes on in the school. the uniforms are great but they should have atleast diffrent colors. I am a senior at NGHS, we will be the first graduating class at NGHS! The school does not offer as much sports or extracurricular activities such as Lane Tech or Whitney Young but some thing that NGHS has that other schools do not have is the family like environment and teacher to student relationship.
... Read more The only flaw that I find is in the sports policy, which states that freshmen can not play sports their first year. I find that sports keeps students off the streets and gives them a sense of accomplishment. But other than the sports policy I find NGHS to be a great school where students will grow and become leaders of tomorrow! Read less

If you are a part ofthe Hermosa neighborhood, you will get accepted into this school. NGHS is a neighborhood school. You can participate in sports if you are not failing your classes. This school offers a few great programs that do stand out. However, compared to other schools, they don't have a lot

This school really pays extra attention to the kids who speak no english or, little english. Sometimes it takes away learning time from those students who do speak English and actually do cherish being taught and learning. When it comes to the building, this school is deffinately up there. Many schools in Chicago aren't in very good condition, but this school is. Read less

Advanced Placement
