... Read more Chicago(Lincoln Park). The students are academically challenged. Students are pushed to do their best. They are accaepted into Ivy League schools. It was also listed inthe Top 100 high schools in the U.S. Only two schools from Illinois were listed their, Northside College Prep and Lincoln Park. It's IB program really caries the school. If it was only IB, it would be listed alot higher but the school gives opportunites to all the students. Read less

Very pleased at first when my daughter was accepted to the double-honors/Fine Arts program at LPHS. Her freshman year, she was struck by the lack of community/caring; this past fall we pulled her from LPHS. Her grades were good, she had friends, but the school is not a nurturing academic environment
... Read more for the vast majority of the 2400 students. I fell prey to the Newsweek Report that put LPHS in th top 100 high schools. While I cannot dispute the test scores, I have to wonder how much is extracted from and exacted on the kids to make those scores. With the exception of a very small percentage - not a lot of school spirit; not a lot of enthusiasm from the students not directly involved in a sport, production, or IB. If you/your child is looking for a good overall highschool experience and not just test scores, look elsewhere. Read less

... Read more 8th period, the price of IDs and temporary IDs doubled since last year, the business office has closed during the school year, and class fees are for things like printer paper. Discipline is horrible. Since when has it been sensible to end off campus lunch for an entire grade because some abused the privilege? Since when starting a new policy of 'no ID= automatic detention' without telling the students and still expect few to no tardies, which can severely affect grades, make any sense? Why is it that the known pothead gets in less trouble than someone that copies homework? Read less

As the parent of a child enrolled in this schools IB program, I can honestly say that I made a very poor decision in sending my child to this school for her education. Unfortunately, I based my decision on test scores and reviews, rather than what I saw and felt whilst visiting the campus.

I came from a school in Missouri my sophomore year to go to lincoln park, to be honest with you i was in the honors program and within that program I really didnt learn anything extra. yes if you notice almost all the other people on this site have given it 4 stars but all of them are in the IB program,

Read more in the regular classes some of the teachers did not even seem to care anymore or be able to get control of the class this school really is geared towards their IB, double honors, and advanced placement students, i think they need to put a little more attention on the kids who need more help, in my opinion if this is one of the better schools i would hate to see some of the bad ones, we were subjected to students drinking on campus smoking etc. Read less

I am in the IB program at Lincoln Park. Students of diverse cultures get along excellently here, and there are many clubs and activities to get involved in for everyone. Sure, we get a heck of a lot of homework, but that shows we can indulge in a brighter future. :]

Lincoln Park H S is basically a good school in comparison to some of the other CPS high schools. The emphasis is placed on the needs and performance of the IB, Honors,Double Honors, and the Performaing Arts students. The general population and special ed programs are lacking in academic supports.
... Read more It's quite sickening to observe how the school is praised when it comes to the academic opportunities provided to the higher performing students. Students who came into the school with high grades, test scores and GPA's to begin with. A really great school knows how to work with ALL students and can take pride in the academic progression and development of ALL of it's students and not just boast about it's high performers. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School

Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
