Although I am not a parent, I graduated from Holy Family in 2005. I went to Holy Family from 2nd-8th grade. I believe that Holy Family is well above average academically. I am now a junior at Walter Payton College Prep, and I have a 4.2 GPA, and Holy Family had a lot to do with my success on getting
... Read more into Walter Payton and doing well my freshman year. Holy Family offers both music and art. They also have a basketball team(which I played on all 4 years), and although they do not have a gym, the program is good because not only does is teach you skills in basketball, but it teaches you life long lessons, such as sportsmanship, and team work, and bonding. The extracurricular activities are above average, taking trips such as Lake Geneva, various Cubs games, and 8th grade traveling to Washington D.C. Read less

... Read more school. The middle school teachers, instructed the students to think, write, and function at high school level even thought they were in grammar school. Our extracurricular activities are limited but the quality of their academic program is not.Under the current principal's leadership, Holy Family scores on standardize tests have improved each year. The principal and the instructors perform miracles with what they little have. They never complain , they just get the job done. The dilemma is parental involvement is very low. I am a new parent to Holy Family and I am greatly impressed by the academic program as well as the after school program. Although this school is small, it offers dance, choir, basketball, technology, and the chance for students to learn to become public speakers. My two sons cannot wait to go to school

My son has attended HFLS since Kindergarten. He will be graduating from 8th grade this year and I am so proud of him. He has had the opportunity to have teachers in his life that have made a great impact on him. Mr. J.L. and Mrs. V.C.B. are 2 teachers that I can truly say have always gone beyond the
... Read more call of duty. That's not to say that the other teachers are not great; But these 2 individuals have always worked hard to bring out the best in each child. Although, the school does not have a gym, the school does have a basketball team, the children attend camp every year, and various other extracurricular activities. My child attended HFLS from 3rd-7th grade.In the course of 4 years, the school had 3 different principals. The school is very small and no child should fall through the cracks, but many student who attend HFLS are performing well below average. The school had to hire a different math teacher every year

Compared to their peers in Chicago Public Schools, the students at this private Lutheran school are below average. Tuition is affordable, but quality of education is poor. The quality of academeic programs are a bit above average. Activites such as; gym, basketball, or other athletic activites are not offered at this time, but art is given sometimes. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
