Posted by a parent on 9/8/2020Great school and great education. My kids transferred to Mater Dei from public school. They were in advanced classes. The general ed. at Mater Dei is ahead of the advanced classes in public school. The kids are taught by teachers who truly care in a respectful faith-based environment conducive to learning. My kids get up each morning excited about going to school.

Posted by a parent on 8/1/2013I am a former student of Mater Dei and can only say that it is a great school. The teachers love what they do and they do it well. Not only will you gain academics, but a well roundedness from extra curricular activities such as band, show choir, sports, and quiz bowl. Mater Dei is a school that sets students up for success throughout life. It is a great school

My child's teacher was always open for discussions with any concerns I may have. The teacher went out of her way to keep my child engaged and interested. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy two children have been at Spalding Park for one year. SP is a large school (over 600 students) but it is well organized and has a positive feel so my kids feel connected and welcomed. When moving to this school I could find very little information so I'm going to try to give some basics. Kids have PE, Art, and Music, Library for younger ones and keyboarding for older ones. There is an hour of each per week and the teachers are excellent, the programs creative and engaging. 30 minutes of recess a day, broken into 10 minute blocks. I found this odd, but I think it works and may serve them better than one long block. There is a good TAG program for the top 5%, but only 30 minutes a week. Class sizes seem to average in the low 20s and teachers are engaged, available and caring. The school uses flexible groupings and students are largely accommodated at their level. Standards based grading is used. The principal is wonderful and available and there is an active PTO. The Kindergarten program is very active, with children moving around the room doing "centers" as well as doing group work. A school garden was started this year.
