I was at clarinda academy for over 2 1/2 years and sucessfully grauated from there and the experience i had there changed my life all because i finally had people that believe in what i can do and what im capable of doing and im in college and thinking about joining the national guard

I am a probation offficer that sends wards to Clarinda. Their education is above standard for most residential placements. Many of my wards were seriously behind in school when first going to CA. There, they were given the individual attetion they needed. Keep up the good work. KM

The Clarinda Aademy puts to much imphasis on petty behavioral issues like cussing and general conversations. The 7 levels will do NOTHING for noboby right when the student is taken from the situation.It is an unrealistic approach.

I have to disagree with the negative feedback given about the Academy. I am an employee working directly with the kids there and we do focus on the 'here and now' but also spend a great deal of time preparing these kids for what we all know is out there for them to face. We get calls from past students
... Read more and hear from their workers all the time about how well they are doing since they were here and you can really see the change in these kids after they see that there are people that believe in them and what they are capable of doing with their lives. Read less

I think Clarinda Academy has a dream in mind and not a realistic goal when it comes to education. Students are held within a classroom setting that is nothing like the classroom setting they are used to and the one they will be going back to when they leave the Academy. Clarinda Academy is teaching students

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
