This is a great school. Two of my kids attend, one is going into her 3rd year and the other his 2nd. We have had nothing but positive experiences in both TAG classes and on grade level classes. Students are placed appropriately and are challenged according to their abilities. The teachers and administrators

Administrators are available to speak to and respond quickly to concerns. The staff creates a fun and caring environment. The music program is top notch. MY kids have flourished at this school! The comment about lack of discipline and followthrough is absolutely true. I have a daughter that was in the TAG (gifted) program there and she thrived. My son that followed her, not so much. He's not in TAG and the lack of structure in the curriculum, discipline and followthrough by some teachers
... Read more has allowed him to slip through the cracks and become lazy. The classes cater more to lower abilities causing other students to become bored, restless and disinterested. I will say that there are SOME fabulous teachers but when their hands are tied by overriding decisions on the department or school level, even their effectiveness is not maximized. Theft is another rampant problem at this school and little is done when something is stolen. A felony in the 'real' world is dismissed as 'we'll see what we can do about it' and little is done. I am so pleased with Elkins Pointe. All of the rumors are unfounded and should be ignored. My daughter is a 7th grader and has done very well. The teachers are great. They not only care about their education, but also their emotional and social well being.

EMPS may be a good school for advanced students, but be forewarned that if your child is not in the upper tier, you will struggle. There is little discipline and follow through in the classes that are not rated 'AP'. It is imperative that parents attend class with their student to experience the classroom

Advanced Placement
