Amazing to read such a negative review. My son graduated in 2005 and my niece is currently in the tenth grade at NHS and loves it. Last year at a basketball game I ran into my son's senior year math teacher who told me that seven NEW kids had just been placed in his class...all from the $15K a year
... Read more private school across the street, a result of the bad economy. He shared that none of these transferring kids were up to speed in math and really had to play catch up. We did not expect teachers or counselors to do parenting of our kids...we did that ourselves. When we were involved with NHS, the counseling was great, and I never had a problem getting an appointment. My brother and sister in law don't have any complaints, and they could afford private school! Read less

My child just graduated from Norcross High, class of 2009. This school has done nothing but turn for the worst within the past four years. The schools administration is all talk no action. They constantly threaten students with disciplinary action and turn around and don't do a thing. Kids are constantly
... Read more roaming the hallways and these are upperclassmen! They talk to teachers and administrators any way they want as if they're friends. This school went from a descent well know school to a ghetto cry for help. Its not even about the school being mostly black, they just simply do not care. I wouldn't recommend this school to a soul until they turn themselves back around. Read less

The average rating only has to do with the administration and counselors at the school. It takes two or three weeks to contact or get a call back about any issue. I cannot be more impressed with Norcross High. I have a total of 12 years' experience with NHS (3 daughters, 4 years each), and can testify to the dedicated teachers, the highly responsive administrators, the quality of the curriculum, and the preparation they received for acceptance to Ivy League colleges.
... Read more The IB program is the gold standard of high school education, and Norcross pioneered it in the state. It is now a part of the middle school, which will make kids even better prepared to maximize their learning experience at Norcross. Another big plus is the sports programs, with teams often ranked #1 in Georgia. There is so much fun to be had at Norcross. It is a very focused, challenging, and satisfying school. Whenever an area of weakness is identified, it is promptly addressed. This school wants to be the best in the nation. Read less

We have had a top-notch experience through all the Norcross schools - Simpson Elementary, Pinckneyville Middle and Norcross High. Our daughter graduated in 2006 at the top of her class with honors, and received a scholarship to college. She remains on the Dean's List due mostly to the top quality education
... Read more and preparations she received through the years. The band program is the best in the state! There is something there for everyone, and all are encouraged to be involved. All through the Norcross schools, parents are the most involved I have ever experienced. Norcross keeps raising the bar, and the students and parents rise along with it. Our kids have received many compliments over the years for their academic successes, and their respect for themselves and others. We are so glad we were steered towards this area when we moved here from the Detroit area back in 1993! Read less

School has excellent opportunities available for the top students including an effective IB Program and AP, Gifted and Honors courses. Extracuricular activities are on a par with other schools. Parental involvement is adequate and more heavily weighted towards the top students.

My 2 daughters both graduated from Norcross High, one from the old building class of '98 and one from the new class of '04. Being at the school and interacting with the kids proved to me that an excellent public education is not only possible, but a realality at Norcross. Read less
* In 2007-2008 Georgia administered the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) in English language arts, math, science and social studies to students in grade 11. The GHSGT is a standards-based assessment, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Georgia. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School

Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
