I am the mother of 3 African-American boys. So I guess I am considered 'minorty', I am a serious critic when it comes to my children. This was our first year at McKendree and it has been a wonderful year. Tutoring has helped out my youngest son. His teacher also would let him come before class started so that he may catch up on his work. My children feel love and appreciated at McKendree. And Ms. Antrim will be missed they need more principals like her. I can't wait until next year. Read less

I do not know what these other Parents are seeing. But my child has never been so neglected in a school before. The Teachers are rude and very abrupt. Once this school term is complete all of my children will be pulled from this school, and enrolled at a much better school found on this sight. The principal needs to be replaced, and some of the teachers need to be re-evaluated. Read less

I love McKendree! My kids have been through McKendree - 3 of them from K through 5th. Any complaints that I see are not the fault of the administration or staff or PTA but the county level. We are very disappointed with Mckendree. I agree with one of the posters. McKendree has some accountability problems. There are some great teachers, but some bad ones. The teachers do an excellent job of communicating with the parents. My child is starting his second year at Mckendree and loves it and can't wait to go back to school. The only negative thing I can say is I do think students could be challenged a bit more and more extra-curricular activities offered.

Parental involvement is great, and there are some great teachers at McKendree, but there is a serious problem with teacher accountability. Too many times my daughter's tests are incorrectly graded and the only answer the school can provide is 'that is the answer in the book'. Example, 2+2+2+2=8 is

Also, the school staff spends more time working with the PTA on raising money or selling you something than actually teaching the kids.
