Two of my children attended Woodland MS and overall the school has a lot of offer. The band program is one of the best around, clubs and sports for everyone. Both were in the gifted program and were not challenged due to the disruption from the students in the classrooms (including the 'gifted' ones).
... Read more We moved out of county due to work, and what a difference behavior makes as to what can be done in the classroom. Its the ill-behaved students (a direct reflection on their upbringing by parents) that is the probelm at this school, not the teachers or staff. The principal is wonderful and cuts the apron strings, making the kids be responsible for themselves, preparing them for HS and college. Again, its some of the students that are attending here that are making it hard for the teachers and students to teach and learn. Read less

My son has been at WMSE for 3 years. I have never had a problem with the teaching staff returning calls, or discussing my sons progress with me. I think in middle school the students are being prepared for high school by having to take responsibility instead of relying on the parents so much. I have

I have had 4 of my kids in this school. The good teaching teams out weigh any short falls the overall program may have. Kids in general are given the benifit of the doubt and met equally at the table for any issues that my surface education wise or otherwise.

My son has been a student at woodland middle for 2 years. He is an a student and is in the a.P. Classes (where available). I suppose my biggest beef with wmse is teacher response. We as parents are told endlessly that we must do our jobs in raising our children and that the teachers will do their part

However, when i call and leave a detailed message for a teacher, or write a note requesting a phone call, i expect to get a phone call. Not a message spoken to my child to 'tell your mother'. I,for the most part,have am very pleased with what goes on at WMSE. I have had great experiences when dealing with both the staff & upper managment at WMSE. ... Read more keep up with my child, and those parents who don't take those few minutes to check homework or even ask their children questions are usually the first to complain when they fall behind. I do however agree that our children should each have their own set of books to keep in lockers and bring home if needed, but this is not WMSE fault, it's the system! This school is lacking so much. Teachers who don't care & don't want to be there. Gifted students are left to teach themselves in the back of the class. ... Read more & everything at the beginning of each school year. I've never been contacted. My sons teachers have never spoken with me after the first day of school. Teachers do not keep up with iparent. You think your child has an A then 1 day later a teacher will put in 5 grades & he has a C. No child left behind is hurting our schools. Read less

Advanced Placement
