I moved up here this year and thought it would be alot easier than my old school. Well, i was right but that only is because they don't care what you do or if you do any of your work. Just about every teacher is there to get a pay check and not to teach. They dont care anything about your future. Out
... Read more of all the counselors only one will help you with what you really want to do for your future. The only thing that really matters at Pickens is the sports. If you arent and athlete than you might as well consider your self a no body. No one likes to get along like they should. They all talk crap about you. There are alot of fights at this school. Mostly everyone who attends this school hates it and the teachers, the administration team are rude and hate students. The dress code has some of the most pathetic rules. I have found a insect in my ranch dressing with my salad at lunch? That tells you it's not very clean at all! Us students are so un happy with the teachers and how they treat us, everyone is rude! My daughter is a 10th grader in this system and I have found that her experience with the faculty and staff of this school are rude and extremly unhelpful to anyone who isn't on the basketball/softball/football teams. my other problem with this system is that the teachers don't know their subjects.

Parent and teacher. Students are well behaved when required. Discipline overall is not enforced. Make out sessions in the halls (PDA as it is called) are common. Some teachers work hard but most allow students to do whatever and still pass them. They lower the bar. Major discipline problems are

If a kid gets into trouble and their parents are prominent in the community the punishment is quite different from someone whose family is not well known or liked. Its a below average education. If your child can not graduate from Pickens then I don't know where they can. With the Block schedule students who pass their classes often take multiple PE's to stay in school their senior year. My children are doing almost 100% better at Pickens High School than they were at Cherokee High School. I think it is the way the classes are set up to be able to be in the class longer and have less classes per day. It sure has made report card time a great. Pickens High school should be proud of

i'm a former student of Pickens County High School. while i was there, i enjoyed probably some of the best moments ever. the teachers were amazing...they acted like they really cared about you. the band program was absolutely amazing. mr. gallagher is one of the best teachers ever and an amazing role

The academic program is appears to be excellent, however, the quaility of the teachers is not. My child is a Junior at PHS and has very good grades, she many friends. Advanced Placement
