... Read more an individual basis and by the awesome homework options they send home. Without these important tools my daughter and I could not follow up on her daily learning activities at school. Her teacher e-mails often and welcomes me weekly to volunteer in the classroom. I also enjoy being with the coaches once a week with the roadrunner program. I am so glad that they encourage my daughter to be physically fit. The reward program they have for good behavior really works for her too. Parent involvement is key regardless which school your child attends. Read less

I concur with the gross majority of the parent-reviews. This school does NOT put the needs of the students' first. The teachers are not teaching to the fullest, thus the students are not learning. ... Read more the teachers realized that there was a communication problem so now they try to overly communicate minute things, e.g. 'Sue blurted out today, but was good.' ... Read more encounter with my son's teacher at open-house, she began to complain about the lack of parental involvement. So, I quickly signed up to assist in the classroom. My husband started off helping out in the classroom weekly, only to be requested to not help out in her classroom but to instead assist another teacher. This infuriated me! From my experience, the school does not aspire to meet the needs of its students. My son will not be going to NMES next year! Read less

Our son is in kindergarten at NMES. I am too, very happy with the staff. Do to relocation, My wife and I transferred our son from a supposedly great school system located in North Fulton County to NMES. In the begining he was behind the other students, however due to the work of the teachers and

When ever I have had questions regarding my son, I would write a note to the teacher or call her & she is very prompt to get back to me. When I just attended the current Parent-Teacher conference, I was told by his teacher that my son made a complete 180 turn for the better. I have read through many of the reviews on this site and am surprised by some of them. I am able to communicate with my child's teacher by phone or email whenever I feel the need. I have also found the administration to be very responsive when issues have arisen. My daughter is achieving above her grade
... Read more level in both math and reading and her teacher has been open to providing her with material that continues to challenge her. The school encourages good behavior through a reward system and has a system in place for students who consistently misbehave. NMES is a school on the rise and I am proud to be a part of it! The teachers and administrators work hard. Student's also work hard but yes there are a few that have behavioral issues and they are addressed appropriately. In a public school it is very difficult to 'get rid of' any student. The teachers at New Manchester are very patient and work to ensure that

It is rare that someone will compliment a school in writing, which is unfortunate. So when you read comments, ask yourself, 'why is this person writing this.' Then go to the school and make your own review. Hopefully you will try to notice and write about all the good things happening every day at New Manchester Elementary School. No school is perfect but I am happy that my child comes home excited about learning in a caring environment. Read less

I think blaming the poor teacher/principal performance on not having money is a cop out. Using that logic parents that are not wealthy should be able to slack off as parents. Money should not affect the dedication of the teachers. I also believe that it is more likely that the parents that are complaining
... Read more on this site have attempted to take an active role in their child's education. Why else would they take the time to comment on this site? I do not doubt that there are great teachers at NMES, but a parent can only comment on their experience with their child's teacher and their experience with the school. My own experience just has not been satisfactory. I have made several attempts to be involved at the school and haven't been treated very well. Read less

As a teacher at NMES, my rating is 'excellent.' I believe that teachers work diligently at differentiating their lessons to meet the needs of all the students. Common assessments are given on a weekly basis to ensure success. Assessments are neccessary for teachers to know where strengths and weaknesses
... Read more are. I believe that all students can be successful, but it takes parent involvement also. Educating a child is not a 'job' just for teachers. We need parents who are willing to be a part of that process. Many parents have complained that there is not enough communication. The school has a website where teachers post upcoming events and the latest news. Also, email and voicemail are available. Together, we can continue to create an environment of learning at NMES. ... Read more of years, this school has had to deal with large class sizes, limited resources, and lack of parental involvement. As far as parent to teacher communication goes, students are provided with agendas to be signed by parents daily. Instead of blaming the school and being reactive, I think we should be proactive. Volunteer at NMES and see the positive impact you can have on your child's education as well as other students. It will give you a realistic view of what teachers deal with on a daily basis in today's educational setting. Read less
