... Read more the students, received some of the highest test scores State Ranked, out of all the other Highschools. Our new principal is not a lunatic she is a great, people just have a problem with her strict policies in order to keep us safe. Her policies help the prevention of fights or any other form of altercations. Salem can be a great place. But unfortunately we get our bad reputation because of the bad children that go here. I am an uprising Junior at Salem high school but I've known the history of this school for the longest time... and has such a rich history and it's devastating to see the history slowly fall into pieces. This school used to have great teachers, a wonderful student body and an amazing administration staff.

Read more But ever since the second semester of my freshman year, our principal retired, teachers quit and students transferred to a different school. most students here do not know how to behave and there's more fights in this school every week than i've seen within my lifetime. There's always negative things happening on campus, and our most recently hired principal is a complete lunatic. I am student at Salem High School and have been since my freshmen year. I am also a student enrolled in rigorous AP courses at Salem as well as a member of the varsity cheerleading squad at Salem High School since my freshmen year. I do not have issues in my academic classes as many other students do
... Read more for the simple fact that I am enrolled in AP courses. However I know many students have problems within their 'regular' classrooms. In many of my elective classes where I am in class with a mixture of students it seems that the classrooms do not function near as well as my AP classrooms nor do the teachers have much control over the classroom. In my years at salem I have come across many teachers who simply do not care about the students or their grades. Read less

I am a new sophmore to Salem High School. I transferred from a Dekalb County School. Salem High School is nothing like i expected it to be. There is alot of behavioral problems. Fighting and smoking occurs on a daily basis on the campus. There are many cliques and other groups to be aware of. Bullying
... Read more also happens. Another thing that is not so good at Salem is the food that we eat. Pizza and fries or tator tots are on the menu EVERYDAY. The new principal complains about the fact that the vending machines have food that we don't need but what about the food that the cafeteria staff serves us. Teachers..... some are nice but others are childish. i understand that i am a student and should respect my elders but some teachers here show no respect at all to the students that they teach. ... Read more sacrafice my commute to work. It has been well worth it. He's striving for better grades,he say''s the teachers listens and cares, and he wants to get up and go to school everyday. i am a student at salem and i believe its a great school. salem offers programs to help students find who they want to be before they go out to colledge and discover that it isnt for them. Some of the teachers can be too strict some times. I think they should allow the students more choices like what

I am a parent of a salem student and have a graduate. There are some excellent teachers and staff there. I do feel that some teachers don't care and are only there for a pay check. I would like to see the teachers who make negative comments and unprofessional remarks to students be held accountable
... Read more for the comments just like the children are held accounted for their behaviors. We do not need negative teachers teaching our children. Sometimes these types of comments can turn a child around for the worse and they wont even try. I think that Salem High school schould get a parent organization together so that they can hear the concerns of involved parents which maybe will attract the parents that are not involved to try and resolve some of the issues or concerns to this matter. Advanced Placement
