My child has attended DCE for a couple of years. I do see a problem with discipline in the school. Bullying and major desciplinary offenses are always given a slap on the wrist. Students are written up instead of suspension from major offenses that are in the hand book. If there is a problem with a teacher,

There are some good teachers, but when it comes down to going to a teacher about a problem with your child with other children nothing ever gets resolved. I have also noticed a lot of teachers are to busy talking to watch the children outside during recess. Children climb the hills by the parking lot and go behind woods that are not visable. Read less

If you never step foot in the school and don't care about your child until after something has happened then you have only yourself to blame. A pro-active parent is a dedicated parent. I have had two children go through DCES. My second is now a fourth grader. The first several years were great, but the current leadership has proven to be less than approachable. When there is a problem, rather than hear our child or us out, we are shut down, being told, 'We always side with the teachers,

The school district is no help, as they give principles complete autonomy in disciplinary matters. The atmosphere of the school has gone from open and friendly to hostile in the past few years, and we will be grateful when our child is no longer subjected to this dictatorship attitude. Read less
