But, as a school, High Point comes pretty close to perfection as does Lisa Nash as a principal. Wow....has the school changed for the better over the past couple years! When I first sent my child to High Point, I was one of the few in my neighborhood to do so. everyone else was doing private. At the time, High Point was overcrowded and had a large transient population. The experience my child
... Read more has received over there is incredible! The teachers are loving & suppportive, and i would challenge anyone to find a better principal anywhere. My child has been learning a full grade above level at High Point due to the excellent teaching and committment to excellence. I think it's worth a gander if you live in the area to look again. ... Read more racial household, but I keep my son ahead of his shool year because, my son is 8 years old curetly in 3rd grade and reading at an AR level of 5th grade. I understand the concern of htis being a community shcool. I agree the distric should be more forward to determine the household geographical attendance. THose who invest in their communities should reap the benefits of thier efforts. I have not seen major score testing, and I do not think my child has not enough homework. Read less

I am thrilled with High Point Elementary. My son just started Kindergarten. He loves his teacher, he is learning so much and the school administrators really care. We chose High Point over a private school and could not be happier.

This would be a wonderful neighborhood school if any of the kids in the neighborhood went there. Unfortunately, I found out too late that the local parents send there children elsewhere. The reason? Crowded clasroons, inexperienced teachers, very little English spoken, poor test scores, and lax supervision.

Look at the CRCT scores on this website. The numbers don't lie. it is not suprising that High Point students score well below average on English. Just visit the campus any day, any time and you will see for yourself. the redistricting is the best thing that's ever happened for my daughter's future.

We have been at High Point for years. While the school is overcrowded, the classrooms are not. The ESOL children are taken out of the classroom for special instruction, leaving the all English speaking children with quite a low ratio teacher/child. As for fundraising, we do two a year: Sally Foster
... Read more & Silent Auction. We have had teachers in each grade and I can tell you without exaggeration that our children have had the best of the best experiences in learning on all levels. The teachers were fabuluos even when the administration was not. Now, with Mrs. Nash we are fortunate to have great leadership leading some of the best and most dedicated teachers. Ultimately the education anyone's child receives, regardless of where they go to school is in direct correlation to how important the child's education is to their parent. Read less

Less than 3% of families living around High Point send their children there. That was the first clue. Our daughter transfered to High Point from a neighboring county and we were all unprepared for the level of disappointment. Advanced Placement
