I think the principal here is one of the best that I have ever had the priviledge to know in the Fulton County system. She is a caring person who gets to know you as an individual.

I'm thrilled with this school! My son has excelled unbelievably and it is due to the caring, encouraging environment. These teachers really and truly care about the success of the students. This school is by far the most beneficial to the student. I've attended other high schools and the amount of care given by the teachers here at Independence overshadows the other schools by far. Most students who have to overcome obstacles would never graduate if it weren't for this school.

This is a well-hidden gem, a wonderful small school with talented and caring teachers. Same curriculum and texts as other Fulton County schools but education is available here in a warm, encouraging environment focused on the individual teenager.

* In 2007-2008 Georgia administered the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) in English language arts, math, science and social studies to students in grade 11. The GHSGT is a standards-based assessment, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Georgia. Students must pass all parts of the GHSGT in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to pass the test.
