Read what parents are saying about Tampa Bay Christian AcademyHello, I was a former student in this school for the 2018 - 2019 school year. I would not reccomend going here. This has to be the most disengaging school I have ever been to. The teachers dont even care about the students and dont even try to get us to engage, the school isnt safe either, apparently a child got hit by a car on the second day of school that year and they(the teachers and admins) werent looking out for anyone as they leave, a field trip to a christian retreat that you are forced to go, if you dont go, you get expelled from this school, that is utter nonsense. They dont even deal with the bullying either, as I was a victim of bullying there, real life and online, harassed for something that doesnt make any sense, tried to tell the admins but they did absolutely nothing on that. I dont reccomend putting your child here, its a waste of a entire school year and a waste of money.

I became the Head of School at TBCA at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. Since that time we have made significant changes and grown by leaps and bounds as a school. We are the best kept secret in Tampa Bay. We are giving academically disenfranchised, culturally diverse, and economically disadvantaged students the opportunity of a phenomenal, Christian education. We have the best faculty in the Tampa Bay area. Over 40% of our high school faculty has a Ph.D. Almost 90% has a masters degree or higher. Our faculty has worked tirelessly to train our students, 97% of which receive a needs-based scholarship, to reach beyond their circumstances and become the men and women God has called them to be. Our elementary faculty is lovingly and gracefully educating young men and women in the foundations of knowledge. Our faculty expertly focus our Our Administrative staff is guiding our school to excel in every endeavor we undertake, and we are seeing amazing results in our student body. In the midst of the Covid-19 shutdown and the reports of achievement slides and gaps, we have seen tremendous growth throughout our school. We have elementary classes where all of the students have moved from behind grade-level, to high school reading levels this school year. As I observed today, in our 9th grade spring testing, two students, who moved to the United States in the past three years are now reading on college levels in English. Our new high-school is revolutionizing education. We soft-launched our high school Leadership Academy last summer, amidst the pandemic shutdown. This year we have seen our student move to become leaders in their community, school, and family. Through their growth in Socratic seminars, our students are standing up for their beliefs, thoughtfully engaging in the argument, and challenging the status quo to become the strong and bold young women and men they are called to be. In the coming year through partnerships with Microsoft Imagine Academy, Co.Starters, the Harrington Mentorship Initiative, and our incredible alumni and community partners, we are training tomorrow's business, entrepreneurship, and tech leaders. Come and see what is happening in our school. I would love to take you, your family, and your friends on a tour of all the amazing and life-changing things that God is doing on our campus. We are impacting our community for eternity.

Posted by a parent on 9/10/2020Amazing! Truly satisfied with the school, the teachers, leadership and curriculum.
Posted by a parent on 9/10/2020I have appreciated the outstanding job that teachers have done in helping me train and educate my children, but I am especially excited about the future of this school. They are training teachers and students to be the very best that they can be, and it shows. I can't wait to see what happens with the new high school Leadership Academy.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 3 children ages 14,9, and 8. My 14 year old started this school when she was in head start, she is now moving on to high school. 1st lets speak about Ms. Roberts, I have worked for Hillsborough County school board for the past 7 years and I have only come across 1 other principal that I can truly say is a reflection of what a school and it's staff should strive to be like and treat their community. (Ms. Delia yarborough- Gadson, principal of Sheehy Elem.) Ms. Roberts , demands perfection, her approach : I will not ask my staff to do anything that I would not do. Meaning, in the afternoon, its Ms. Roberts the Principal, helping to direct traffic, helping to dismiss, speaking to all the parents, making sure we all feel welcome to be apart of her school. I recently asked my 9 year old , gifted son, if he would like to go to a private school for the 22/23 school year, this school focuses on areas in which he is gifted, and animals... (He would like to be a paleontologist when he is older, we currently have a zoo of animals at our house....) Even though the private school focus4ed on subject he is more interested in he demands to stay at Cleveland Elem. My son was what you would call "a Runner" in 1st and 2nd grade, there was a many times myself or spouse had to come to the school to calm him down, sometimes we would have to pick him up... Through both years Ms. Roberts , ALWAYS, made us feel welcome, she expressed how hard she knew our life was at home with him and she promised to help and maintain the positivity and stable environment for him at her school. Fast forward to now He is going into 4th grade and is a Gifted student makes mostly A's and B's with the exception of a "C" in Pe one semester. He went from the kid that was a runner and at high risk for elopement. To the student who the teacher asks to help his peers when they don't understand. He has been highly motivated to "Do the Right Thing" by the Principal, his teachers and their many staff members who go above and beyond their "Job Descriptions". I am truly grateful for the years we have spent with this school. What a pleasant experience in a world of many unpleasant ones. especially when your child had ADHD, ODD, and a Mood Dysregulation Disorder .Parent Review1y ago - Egypt Lake Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have been attending Seminole Elementary for 3 years. During this time we've had a change in the Principal and it's made all the difference in the moral of the school with the teachers and parents. The teacher's are loving and supportive. Children are able to participate in a special everyday whether it's music, art or PE and they also get 20 mins of teacher directed recess daily. It recently became a STEM school so the curriculum will be adapted to focus on those concepts but otherwise the school is structured like a traditional school of year's past. The school is small and the teachers and staff are loving, attentive and encouraging.Parent Review4y ago - Twin Lakes Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't even know where to start from the many things that I can tell. I understand I must begin by saying that Mrs. Batista (the principal) is never available to parents when something wrong is going on with the administration. To better explain myself this school does not provide the necessary aids to students with learning disabilities and they trample on the rights of these students. It takes years to evaluate childrens with special needs, in my case they even questioned the college readiness of the psychologist who had evaluated my daughter. They insisted that there was no learning disability just for not admitting the inappropriate handling of the case. Thanks to God and after carrying out multiple evaluations with other professionals who do not belong to the school or the district, they did the evaluations and the PEI. The director never show her face or expressed that she was aware of the situation or that something was being done to help the minor. Today, the special education teachers have been absent teachers and there is no good communication between them and the ones from the regular program, they are all disconnected from the reality of many students. I consider that this school has excellent teachers but it has a very bad administration.Parent Review3y ago - Montessori Academy Of Tampa Bay

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had to remove my child from this environment due to blatant discrimination by the lead teacher. The lead teacher did not discipline students who were bullying my child, but rather made excuses for the aggressors. She would also write reports up about my child when my child had to defend herself against bullying. The lead teacher would conveniently leave out the aggressions initiated by bullies that caused my child to react. I’d only get a full account of what transpired by asking probing questions that ultimately led her to confessing that my child was first hit by a bully on the playground (this was just one event among many). This and many other accounts where my child was discriminated against both blatantly and passive aggressively led me to remove my child from this environment. Also an award that was supposed to be given by student votes was rigged and manipulated by the lead teacher to favor who she wanted to receive the award, so integrity is questionable. Additionally when my child was struggling in math I was not notified early on or updated on her progress (I found out because I pay close attention to my child’s performance) which made me believe that my child was intentionally not positioned to have support that could have led to better outcomes. Pay close attention to micro aggressions towards minority children because this was not a positive experience.Parent Review2mo ago
