Read what parents are saying about Temple Beth Am Day SchoolDespite the impressive facade of the new building and campus, concerns linger behind closed doors at Beth Am School. The administration's focus appears to prioritize their social media image and classroom capacity over the quality of education provided. Drawing from personal experience as a parent with children in both public elementary schools and Beth Am, it is evident that the former offers a more robust educational foundation and superior preparation for middle school. Excessive emphasis on extracurricular activities detracts from valuable classroom learning time, all for that great instagram post. Witnessing firsthand the disrespectful conduct of Ms. Anderson, the school's head, towards students and staff indicates a concerning leadership approach. You can see reviews from a school she ran in NYC were very similar. Access to her attention seems reserved for those capable of writing substantial financial contributions. There are some dedicated teachers at Beth Am, but such talent is not unique to this institution. The sustainability of such valuable faculty within this administration remains uncertain. Safety is definitely a plus for Beth Am, but I felt pretty safe in public school as well. Would have been nice to have Spanish as a language option. This education is definitely not worth the money.
Posted by a parent on 3/11/2024When we enrolled at Beth Am, we were filled with hope because of all the positive things we had heard. After three years, however, I feel like I've let my children down by keeping them there for so long. While there are a select few teachers who are AMAZING, many others fail to meet the standard expected of a teacher. This school seems to cater to one type of student – those who don't require any extra support and are considered mainstream. If your child needs additional assistance, don't expect them to receive it here. The administration's email responses are often vague, and they frequently neglect to address your questions or concerns. They don't seem to value the insights parents can offer about their children or take into account what's best for the child as an individual. If possible, I would recommend avoiding this school and exploring other options in the area.
Posted by a parent on 3/8/2024The new head of school, Nora Anderson, decimated her previous school, racked up a record number of formal complaints, and is seemingly exiled from working anywhere in the tri-state area. The school needs to end their association with her before she does serious damage.
Posted by a parent on 1/5/2024Dr Starr was an excellent head of the school. Unfortunately she is retired.
Posted by a parent on 2/23/2023My daughter was in Junior Nursery when she was 2 years old. On an occasion, I shoed up at the school to pick her up and she was not in the classroom. The teachers had left her unattended in the playground for what they claimed "a few minutes". The student to teacher ration in the classroom was 10 kids to 2 teachers. Needless to say I took my daughter out of the school and reported them to DCF.

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am happy with this school, my son is in first grade in the French program (a language we do not speak at home) and he has learned a lot. His teachers are excellent, they care about the children's learning and are also responsible for giving you positive feedback about their performance. When I have gone to the counselor I have also had support. It is a demanding program and sometimes with a lot of homework but it is worth it! The PTA is super organized and in general there is a community that involves parents with school activities. It is an excellent school.Other Review3mo ago - La Scuola

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter is treated with love and respect from everyone in the school. They have a great environment and learning activities where kids can be themselves and learn everyday. I love their campus as it provides peace with all its nature and animals and kids are exposed to outdoors daily, letting their creativity bloom. I strongly recommend La Scuola, it's a lovely place!Parent Review5mo ago - St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s was a very hard and cruel experience! My son was expelled after six days of Summer Camp. He was three years and half, we just moved from NY to Miami. It was a difficult transition for him so he had a regression in potty training. They didn’t try to understand the situation, they didn’t try to be patient or have empathy for him. They just expelled him after 6 days of Summer Camp! I don’t know what religion values we can recognize in this action. One of the employees told me: “you will find a place that will understand your son situation”. Definitely a school that don’t understand real values, real empathy and real love for kids! Please put in perspective if it was your son. What would you do?Parent Review10mo ago - St Thomas The Apostle Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI hope this helps someone; I don’t have anything positive to say and I mean, absolutely nothing positive about this school, it’s sports, it’s curriculum, it’s teachers, the property maintenance (especially lower elementary bathrooms) , it’s bullying, it’s superficial community, it’s academics, it’s student cliques or its parents cliques. I completely agree with the negative reviews. The only thing that changed is they have a newer principal since the rave reviews were posted about the old one who was stellar. I understand no school is perfect but choose another school for your children. I was looking for an academically challenging school, with many loving encouraging teachers, preferably Catholic teachers practicing their Catholic faith, who enjoy (or at least appear to) teaching and their students. I was hoping for more inclusive parents and kids, not all, but at least a few. Also, more supervision in the lower grades when it comes to bullying and maybe a school that makes the parents feel like they are welcome and appreciated.Parent Review1y ago - Riviera Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe only thing you get here is a big bill and safety. The children do not receive an education that is comparable to what you pay. The turnover in the school is atrocious.Parent Review4mo ago
