Read what parents are saying about San Jose Episcopal Day SchoolOur son went to school here after glowing reviews from family and friends. We were very, very disappointed. The rooms are old and musty and the carpet needs to be replaced. Their supposed "After school" program was beyond ridiculous. There were very few activities available and they were all very pricey and meant for older children. The children who didn't go to a program went to the cafeteria where they were baby sat by a group of very nice older people but with very little enthusiasm or energy for young children. 80% of the time when we would pick up our son, we would find him watching older children playing video games on the computer. There was also hardly ANY kids there, maybe 20 or so in the after school. Most of the kids go home or go to other programs. We sent our son to a different school for summer, since SJEDS doesn't have a summer program either. Our entire family was much happier at the other school. We liked the new school so much, we left SJEDS and sent our son to the new school.
Posted by a parent on 11/7/2014Both my son and daughter are graduates from this great school. They were both given a great foundation for the challenges of life ahead of them academically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. My son has graduated from college and is happily married and has a great career. My daughter is thriving in college and came back to coach the SJEDS girls basketball team to win the tournament of elementary schools. I attribute their success to SJEDS excellent teachers, leadership, small class size, integrated curriculum, teachers who take the time to talk about each child in-depth both within the year and across grades to prepare for the coming group of kids and their learning styles, personalities, preparedness and other factors for the child's success. Amazing follow-through and support from a parents perspective complete the well rounded gift this school is to our children and our community. A free tour was all it took for us to see the difference in San Jose Elementary Day School (SJEDS).
Posted by a parent on 8/11/2014My child has been at this school 4 years now and is very happy here. The school has caring teachers who keep you up to date on your child's progress. Each teacher has a class blog where they post student pictures and work plus other class information like homework and educational games. Students are learning to use programs like PowerPoint starting in First grade and technology is integrated into class assignments. The music teachers on the Primary and Intermediate levels are excellent and the kids love to go to music. I am also constantly surprised at the beautiful art projects that my child brings home and the ones that I see around the school. It seems like every child is an amazing artist. Children take Spanish starting in first grade and grammar is part of the curriculum. Students have 10-20 spelling words per week and 10-20 vocabluary words per week (depending on the grade level). I also don't mind the fundraisers. They do things like a used book sale, fall and spring festivals, a golf and tennis tournament, a silent auction, and a pancake dinner. Standardized testing is done at the beginning of the year so you can see what your child needs to work on.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don’t know how long my review will be here because I’ve seen negative reviews from this school magically *vanish*.So I looked carefully what school to put my child in and I saw all 5 star reviews for this one and went for it. Everyone seemed super nice when I went to check out the school. Well… everything changed once my child was enrolled. Rude and unprofessional teachers, careless, rude, and condescending directors, and I ended up with a traumatized child having night terrors for over a month. And the school never seemed to notice or care that my child never went back.Parent Review1y ago - Jca - Michele Block Gan Yeladim Preschool & Kindergarten

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent I would not recommend my worst enemies child to go there. The building itself is filthy and it is apparent when walking through the facilities. Floors are dirty when our children are constantly playing on them! I’ve seen so many cockroaches as well as even witnessed a teacher having to step on multiple in front of me. I have even taken concerns on my child’s Teddy Bear teacher to the directors and they didn’t listen and did nothing but vouch for her. We have had an awful experience there and will not be returning. My son didn’t want to go to school because of how poorly and rude his teacher spoke to him and constantly yelled at him. I’ve also noticed tons of teachers are leaving? All of us parents have noticed and are quite concerned. They were advertising needing teachers before school started, still at the beginning of the year, and even now halfway through. Why can’t they seem to keep people? Our favorite teachers have already left and we don’t even know why!Parent Review2mo ago - The Bolles School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has not been a great experience for me. (1) There is A LOT of Bulling. (The teachers don't even care.)(2) I was also the only one in my class who got a 100% on my math exam and they gave me a C for my grade.(3) Also at school when we learn we are mostly playing.(4) Their sports are really good! ( I recommend doing sports here )(5) I recommend not coming to this school for learning.Student Review7mo ago - University Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely love University Christian! From the dedicated administrative team to the amazing teachers, it's been an incredible experience for our family. The administrative team at the school is truly exceptional. They are always welcoming, approachable, and ready to assist with any concerns or questions we may have. Their professionalism and commitment to creating a positive and supportive school environment make a world of difference. They make sure that every child feels safe and well-cared for, and their communication with parents is wonderful. But it's not just the administrative team that makes our school exceptional; it's also the wonderful teachers. They go above and beyond to ensure that our children receive the best education possible. Their passion for teaching is evident in their approach to nurturing our kids' curiosity and helping them grow academically and socially. The teachers create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment, and we are so grateful for their dedication and hard work.My children have learned so much, made great friendships, and developed a love for learning at this school. I couldn't be happier with the education and experiences they're getting here. It's clear that the school, its administrative team, and teachers all work together to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for our kids. I'm so thankful to have found such an incredible school, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any parents looking for a place where their children can thrive and be happy.Parent Review4mo ago
