Read what parents are saying about Belleair Montessori AcademyThis school is wonderful! I was shocked to read the poor review in June from a disgruntled parent. It seems they were reviewing the school's summer camp and not the actual school year. The summer camp is totally different than the academic school year when the Montessori curriculum and philosophy is taught by certified Montessori teachers. My child loved coming to school and her teachers were always warm and welcoming. The director has an open door policy to discuss any concerns or issues parents may have. The teacher/child ratio is below the limit set by the Pinellas county license board, which means children are supervised closely and receive more attention. The school was always clean and materials organized on the shelves. I would highly recommend this school!
Posted by a parent on 11/13/2017The VPK class is amazing. It is truly a Montessori classroom. The teachers know what they are doing, and the children work hard and are learning so much! I can't wait for my other child to go the Belleair Montessori Academy.
Posted by a community member on 11/13/2017Teachers seem bored, overworked, and/or inexperienced. Teachers are in over their head and are not experienced enough to care for the number of children they are watching. Lack of up-to-date toys and play areas, not enough age-appropriate activities, and they do not follow any of Montessori’s educational philosophies. No Emotional Support. Children are unattended, brushed off when they ask for attention, ignored when crying, or bullied by the teachers or other kids, When a child is having a behavior issue, some teachers yell or belittle the child, Their main goal is to punish, not teach children. Teachers are poorly trained and cannot handle children both on the playground and in classrooms. Lack of cleanliness. AC never works or it is never tuned on. Children are sweaty and uncomfortable especially during the hot summer days.
Posted by a community member on 6/30/2017When I originally called Kathy, I told her that my son is not fully potty trained yet. She told me that he would go in class with the younger children because of this and I was ok with that. I also told her that he has behavioral problems and she seemed to be ok with that as well, reassuing me that the teacher(s) would work with him. His first day, he was put into class with the older children and he didn't do so well. Upon arrival, there was a note attached to my sign out sheet explaining that the classroom wasn't equipped with changing pull-ups and that he could not return because of his behavior that day. I feel that the teachers didn't give him a fair chance and that he should have been allowed time to adjust to his surroundings. I also feel that my son was discriminated against due to his delay and the school just did not feel like dealing with him.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers and staff have been super before and during COVID-19. I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experiences have been. We have a 7 yo granddaughter attending since kindergarten. Facing the adversity of changing and missing schools, they have managed to assist us in catching our granddaughter up. Kudos for the Class DoJo with the streaming of activities and parent-teacher conversations in real time. This school has exceeded my expectations and deserves a much higher score in my opinion. They have continuously demonstrated their concerns for our granddaughter’s safety and education. This school’s ability to provide virtual learning and physical classroom education simultaneously convinces me they have the children and families at heart. The school passed the challenge with flying colors!Parent Review2y ago - Ponce De Leon Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible School. Get rid of the Principal Dr. Smith. Poor leadership. He is collecting a salary. The school is performing Below Academic Standard for 2 or more years. The Scholars are not progressing, only regressing. Shameful, Shameful, Shameful.Parent Review2y ago - Dropout Prevention School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSmall class size which allows more individual attention Caring teachers Christian learning environment Sports opportunities are somewhat limited but students have an excellent ability to participate and learn. It wasn’t about winning championships it was about doing their best and sportsmanship, how they treated others I liked that.My boys are not athletes but we’re able to play sports, the small size let them do more than sit and watch, they were encouraged to play!Non pretentious and accepting atmosphere Fair prices with scholarships and funding help available. No regrets having my boys thereThey participate in the music program and plays which the school does. Both have had leading roles! They started a steam program last year that allows for hands on learning Physical plant upgrades are happening as well as technologyParent Review1y ago - Pinellas County Jewish Day School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDespite the financial challenges the school faced this year, I have not seen any change in the quality of education they provide. My kids are challenged daily and love going to school. Two years ago we moved to Tampa where our kids attended Roosevelt Elementary. Although this is supposed to be one of the better schools in Tampa, my then first grader was not nearly as engaged or excited about going to school and often complained that school was boring.Parent Review14y ago - Washburn Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids have been attending Washburn for two years now and they are both thriving in their studies. Washburn's individual approach to education means no child has to wait for others to catch up to them before moving ahead, nor do they feel rushed to catch up if they're not grasping a subject quickly. Due to this, my son is now a full grade ahead of his public school peers! In addition, all students are able to fully apply and use the data they have learned, which is a rare quality in education these days.Parent Review4y ago
