I have two girls attending Sunset Park and except for a few very small issues, couldn't be happier. My oldest daughter will be on safety patrol and the morning news for the upcoming 2009/2010 school year. We've relocated to diffrent cities several times due to my husbands job. I've dealt with four elementary

Due to poor planning, since their is only one way in and one way out. Overall the staff is WONDERFUL! Very friendly and informed. In this area, so many parents have their children in private schools but, this paticular school is so good, I don't see that it's nessecary. Read less

I disagree with alot of what has been said here. I am proud to see that my childs school earned an 'A' from the state. was also involved with the PTA and loved that we were given an award for best in Orange County. My childs teacher kept us up to date when we asked for help or information. Maybe there

I expect that things wouldn't be perfect with a school where there were supposed to have 700 students at this 'relief' school, but to see that by the end of their first year that Sunset Park already had portables and had at least 1000 students makes me feel that this school has alot on their plate, I hope they have their own 'relief' school built soon. I was very happy with this school. My son received the attention needed and ended up learning way more than he did at Windermere Elementary (who had quite a bit of attitudes towards families that had 2 working parents!). This school is more diverse which I think is important for a child to grow up

I believe the VP is leaving, and that is a good thing. She was disrespectful to me and my child. I wasn't too happy with the private school my child attended. It wasn't as great as I thought. I enrolled my child at Sunset Park Elementary. Leadership has been poor, communication from school to parent is non-existing, and to get a good teacher is the luck of the draw. This was their first year and they have to weed out the bad ones for sure. Yes, some teachers are horrible. Some do everything by the book and nothing more, and the very

A true picture is painted by one's personal experience. While some parents may be satisfied, our experience was not satisfying in the least. My son's grades declined, I saw little Teacher/Student interaction, and I also experienced a number of problems with the leadership of this school. In my opinion,

* In 2008-2009 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 8 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 11 in science. The FCAT Writing results are displayed separately on GreatSchools profiles. The FCAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.
