Venice High School is amazing! I'm in my Sophomore year and I've been there since 9th Grade. There's so many clubs to choose from, the classes are great, and most of the teachers are really nice people. I feel so confident walking around in Venice High, and proud that it's my school. I must agree with the student who is unhappy with the guidance department and it's lack of organization and follow-thru. My child says they are grumpy and dismissive whenever he goes there for either a problem or direction. They shoo him away, telling him 'they'll call him down' but as of yet, it has

As mentioned previously, if you have not lived here your whole life the other students pretty much leave you to yourself, not welcoming and very judgmental. This school is great if you're into the physically academic aspect, although not much effort for the students not involved in a sport. I feel many teachers need to either be monitored more often or take extra curriculum courses to freshen up their knowledge, many seem very uninterested. Most students

The guidance department is always unorganized the counselors are very unhelpful and impatient. However, 3/60 Teachers should be recognized for their hard work, dedication and compassion for the students well being and further success. Read less

This school is unable to handle students that did not start out there in 9th grade. If your student is a good studier, smart, started VHS in 9th and does not need any assistance at all (including guidance dept.) then they would probably do well at this school.

* In 2008-2009 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 8 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 11 in science. The FCAT Writing results are displayed separately on GreatSchools profiles. The FCAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.
