Although all kinds of kids seem to do well at Magnolia, it's an exceptionally good place for gifted children. The lack of grades keeps kids working hard, since they are challenged to do their best, not just make an A. Multi-age classes make it easy to place children in the right math or reading group,

After many years at Magnolia, my younger child is still inquisitive and confident and not the least burned out on school. I am sorry to see that the first review listed is not favorable. Our children attended the Magnolia School from kindergarten through 8th grade - 9 years. They are now very successful in high school, having easily transitioned and making As in honors and AP classes. I am very impressed in the education

For the school to be a success you have to be very involved with your children, have a rich home environment and trust in the education you kids are receiving. The level of discussions at this school far surpass any you would encounter in a public school. However, this is not a school where you drop your kids off and expect them to 'be taught.' ... Read more years ago. If you are looking for an alternative to homeschooling, Magnolia School is a great option. The student-teacher ratios are kept as low as possible. Each child is treated like an individual with distinct abilities and needs. Children aren't pigeon-holed into specific age-based groups if their academic abilities are different from their chronological peers. The multi-aged classrooms and interaction between the students is also extremely positive. The younger students are nurtured and mentored by their older peers. As the students grow-up within the community, they learn the value of caring for the younger kids. The Magnolia School is a wonderful school we recommend highly. Read less

Our five-year old son started Kindergarten at Magnolia this year and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the school and staff. The school is more than a place for the kids - rather, it is a community of caring people who want their children to excel in life. Each family volunteers at least four hours per month at the school. Although we've only been part of the community for a little over a month, we feel right at home. And so does our son. He loves doing homework and can't wait to go to school in the morning. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
