I am a former student of SSAS and I think it was a great school. SSAS is a charter school that is located in downtown sarasota. It is an amazing place where the teachers are great and students can learn in a fun and educational way. I loved SSAS so much that words can't describe how much I missed it ...  Read more

I find the school to be exceptional, however, it also seems that the teachers are expected to do too much. At times, they seem tired and stressed out. I wanted my son in a safe school and this is certainly it. He is a challenged and happy 6th grader.

My daughter is a 6th grader at SSAS and our whole family loves the school. The rules and systems by which the school is run should be emulated by the rest of the schools in our county. The teachers teach in a way that encourage free thinking while staying in the boundaries of the curriculum. They do ...  Read more

SSA&S is a good school with a variety of extracurricular activities for students. My one conplaint would be that the teachers are not attentive enough to the students at times and could prevent problems that occur when the teacher become lax in supervision.

My child had a tremendous experience at SSAS. From an academic standpoint, he was challenged, and benefitted from the interdisciplinary approach used by the teachers. He participated in numerous music activities as well as one of the sports programs, with both programs being led by tremendous teacher/coaches. ...  Read more

Love the idea of this school. Have had a great experience with most teachers. Only negative I have is with the communication with parents. There seems to be a definate problem in the chain of command for communication issues. Would like to see more interaction with the kids on a more personal level.
