We have been a part of the Bishop Larkin family for 4 years. It is a truly caring and nurturing environment where my child can learn successfully and grow spiritually. 'Act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God' is Bishop Larkin's motto and that is exactly what they teach. There is such a sense of camaraderie within the school. Some say the curriculum is tough (lots of homework and a certain expectation of integrity in what the kids turn in, etc.) but the children benefit and prosper from this in the future. On a scale from 1 - 10, my family and I give Bishop Larkin a 10+. We would recommend it highly to anyone asking! The ONLY downside is that it is tough in this economy to be able to send multiple children here (or any private school for that matter). Read less

Will keep my children enrolled for another school year, but am incredibly disappointed with the lack of communication on the part of the leadership staff. Too many misunderstandings.

This is a wonderful, faith-based school. The quality of the education is excellent. To comment on the reviewer who was unhappy about the standardized tests, Bishop Larkin does have them. They are called the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Standards). This is nothing like the FCAT. The ITBS tests are administered

The test also compares the school grade to other schools across the country. This, in my opinion, is a better tool for student and school improvement than the ridiculous FCAT. Both of my children attended Bishop Larkin, with one in public school now, so I have seen both sides of the coin. I went to this school for all nine years of my grade school years. The teachers there are extremely professional and the principal, Sister Regina, is absolutely wonderful. All of the teachers have won over my heart and the hearts of my family. Every single teacher there actually cares for their students.
... Read more I am now in my freshman year in a college prep high school, and most of the courses are really easy for me because of the quality education that I received at Bishop Larkin. I am even in two sophomore classes this year! Out of the primary teachers I had, Mrs. DeMarco was my favorite. I had her for 2nd grade, but now she teaches 1st. She balanced learning with fun and taught all of her students so much. In elementary school, both Sister Jane and Mrs. Mignone prepared me not only academically for middle school, but also spiritually and mentally. They gave me the mindset that I needed and taught me responsibility. Mrs. Mignone is now teaching middle school Social Studies and Sister Jane is still teaching religion for the elementary school. I can t choose which middle school teacher I liked the most! They were all just wonderful! They taught me all I needed to know for high school and so much more. Everyone who went to Bishop Larkin is head and shoulders above the other students. This is an absolutely wonderful school overall! I would definitely recommend sending your children! Read less
