44 Parent Reviews for Coral Reef Senior High School

After 4 years in the IB program, I was disappointed to find out that the majority of Colleges do not accept the IB tests for college credit. Better do some investigating before you put your child through this. AP classes are a much better option. I agree the school is overrated.

This place is depressing. Most of us have to take remedial classes in college. You never hear about that. It's all about a few good students, and they advertise them everywhere so parents think this school is good. It's a total lie!! Terrible place, Do not go here.

My son attended this school and was very unhappy. A whole year focusing on the Fcat to keep it an A school. It is over rated by everyone. I finally put him at Sunset his Junior year, and his grades improved as well as his confidence and he earned a scholarship to Florida State.

My daughter attends the IB program at Coral Reef and I am thrilled at the academic program. I am sure she will be more than prepared to enter a good university when she graduates. They also encourage individuality and treat the kids as if they were already in a university.

Some parents say that it's worth it...the long hours of homework the main focus on the FCAT to maintain the A+ school status, the only 6 hours of sleep... my child is about to make a decision but, again...it's worth it, in the end??? In the end of what???? She is a great student... we'll see what she ...  Read more

Coral Reef is a high achieving and demanding school, it is not for everyone! It is a sink or swim mentality and definately has a rigorous homework and study policy. It is not a nurturing environment nor one that strives for students to love learning or think outside the box, instead the highly gifted ...  Read more

Those who write really negative reviews (1 star?) by giving poor reasons are the ones who will look back later in life and say that they were not good students back then and deep down inside will regret it as to why they did not follow the path/opportunities that lay in front of them. They will probably ...  Read more

(Continued)If one truly knows they wish to be a part of the arts, business, medicine, engineering, agriculture, animal science, or law enforcement then they should apply to their respective academies. If your child is a high achieving student who excels in most or all basic educational fields and if ...  Read more

As a current student i genuinely believe that Coral Reef is the best public school in all of miami-dade and sometimes it seems better than a lot of private schools in miami, however this is all subjective. If you're studious and have the drive and desire to learn you'll love it, if you're no where near ...  Read more
