This school is wonderful! My daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability 'not otherwise specified' and nobody seemed able to help her. She is now happy and confident because the teachers and staff at Vanguard take the time to teach her the way she needs to learn.

I have been a student here for three years. All the kids disrespect teachers by having their lap tops out, ipods on, cell phones out! etc. The teachers have an impossible job because the administration lets us have it al out and support us. Unfortunately I am not prepared for life. I don't know my times
... Read more tables, division, or even how to write unless I am sending a text message. Unfortunately the good teachers who come to vanguard leave within a year or two because the administration does not act int he best interest of students. They just keep us happy so we stay at Vanguard and baby sit us, and even the supervision is definitely lacking because there is a lot of drug use. Students OD and go to the hospital regularly. So if you want to have a good time, come to Vanguard!! But don't plan on attending college! Read less

To every parent who considers this school, Please take the time to visit the school during a school day so you can witness the lack of discipline, and lack of learning in the classroom. The school has tremendous issues with poorly trained staff, uncertified teachers, no real resources for special education
... Read more students, and a lack of respect for academic standards. The president of the school will make every claim to you in the world and then fail to have her staff follow through with the agreement. Mostly because of very poor communication and not enough staff for the type of student the school is faced with. The only reason they get away with what they do is because they are a boarding school, and parents can not witness the mass chaos on a daily basis. Be very careful about trusting these people with your son or daughter! Please!!!!! Read less

The individual attention is what got us to get our daughter into Vanguard. On a scale of 1-10 I would give the school an 8. Two issues are technology support for student's laptops (which are a requirement)--for which they have finally hired someone, and whether the school is providing the life skills
