My son started to fall behind in the 2003-2004 school year.(4th Grade). His teacher requested for him to be placed in ESE, so he wouldn't have to worry about the FCAT. When the request was brought to my attention, I refused to sign the request. With out my signature, the school could not put him in ESE.
... Read more I sat down and had a long talk with my son about the problems. We agreed that he would try his best. My son took the FCAT Test and passed. He was one of 12 students who recieved a $50.00 Walmart gift card for top scores on the FCAT Test. * In 2011-2012 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT 2.0) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading, 3 through 8 in math, and in grades 5 and 8 in science. The FCAT 2.0 is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT 2.0 has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.

Test Score Ratings
Test score ratings are based on the most recent standardized test results reported by this state. These ratings may help
you compare similar schools in this district or area. For example, a rating of 8 indicates that, on average, students in
this school scored better than 70% of the students in the state on the same tests. We have indicated below which tests
were used in calculating these ratings. Other factors should be considered when comparing schools, including teacher
experience, academic programs, extracurricular activities, resources for special needs students, etc. These ratings are
not provided by the state Department of Education, which may have their own rating systems.
