My children moved here from a South Florida school. Yes, there isn't that much Cultural diversity but both my elemtary and middle school children love it. The teachers are wonderful and caring. Cultural influences, second-languages, arts and diversity are not promoted. There are no resources for children who do not fit this schools 'norm' or its very specific student preferences.

My child moved to this school from aa neighboring school Because it did not meet AYP. My child was given the chance to 'shine' at High Springs Community School. The teachers are caring, consistent and well-trained. All schools have some issues...our children shouldn't have to be pawns.

My child moved from one school in Gainesville to this school. In Gainesville she would have had the opportunity to take Spanish which they do not offer at this school. * In 2008-2009 Florida used the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) to test students in grades 3 through 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 8 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 11 in science. The FCAT Writing results are displayed separately on GreatSchools profiles. The FCAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Florida. The FCAT has 5 achievement levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Florida considers scores of level 3 and higher to be on or above grade level. The goal is for all students to score at or above level 3.
