My daugther went to DHS for her freshman year. She liked it, but as a parent I could see that they were lacking. She was in gifted for middle school and did great. But she just couldn't be challenged enough. Her grades went down and her attitude got worse. For her 10th grade year I pulled her out and ...  Read more

This school is OK, not the Best but not the worst. Although, with county cutbacks there are no subsatute teachers so if a teacher is absent then the class goes to the gym, so if 13 teachers are sick that is 13 classrooms in the gym with only one 'sub' to overlook all of them!

DeLand High School is an outstanding school. This year, we are proud to say that we are an 'A' school! As Junior of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, I feel that this rigorous program has helped me developed stronger academic skills every year. DHS also provides AP, Honors, as well as, Early ...  Read more

My daughter graduated in 2006 from the ib program, she enjoyed all 4 years there and made life-long friends, not only with her peers but the caring teachers. She was involved with the swim team and teacher, principal and other parents were always involved and had great school spirt. I find that Deland ...  Read more

Like all schools there are areas of concern but I feel that faculty and staff go above and beyond everyday to reach out to those in need. ...  Read more

The high school serves a great many more cities than DeLand which lends to overcrowding. You get what you pay for. IB students will tell you it's great. Athletes will tell you it's great. But the vast majority of students who compromise the middle receive an average education. If considering relocation, ...  Read more

I graduated from DHS and have very few good things to say about it. DHS is extremely overcrowded and dirty. The construction was a nightmare! There is very little discipline and the administrators on campus do very little to remedy the problem. Most classes learn very little because the teachers are ...  Read more

I recently moved to DeLand. I would have waited until my children were out of high school to move if I had known all the issues that the children here need to overcome. I am noticing that the people who are least satisfied with this school are from places other that DeLand. Perhaps that makes us more ...  Read more

I too am a Deland High student. And I cannot express how much appriciation I have for the principal and the administration. As an IB (international Baccalaurate) student, the teachers and classes encourage and challenge me. Overall the school is amzing and there is no other school I would rather attend. ...  Read more
