The parents are very clique-ish, so it's no surprise the kids are too. They emphasize religion quite a bit, and parents have to jump hoops for the priests. If you want a well-rounded experience for your child, where he will meet others that are not all exactly alike, this is not the school for you.

St. Theresa School is an ultra conservative shool run by carmelites. The mathematics program for 7th and 8th grade is weak and could use improvement. The athletic program was average until they hired their new athletic director a little over a year ago. Since then, he has improved the athletic program

St. Theresa School in Coral Gables is a Catholic school run by the Carmelite Sisters from California. It is very religious and conservative. The pastor controls the school and makes all the major decisions. The administration are puppets that follow whatever he tells them to do. The students do well...average
... Read more to above average...and go on to one of the catholic high schools in the area. The atmosphere is one of competitiveness and rivalry. The teachers are very dedicated and hard working. Overall the school is average in all academic areas, but has an unfriendly environment. Read less

Great school overall! As a parent and teacher in public school, it is refreshing to send my child to St. Theresa. The curriculum is challenging and the religious education is what drove me to enroll my child at the school. After seeing what I see day to day in public school I thank God for the opportunity

There was too much of an emphasis on religious education which overshadowed more rigorous academics. Teacher quality was par. Kids were not encouraged to pursue non-Catholic high schools after graduation. Teachers were ridiculously strict. Parents wanting their students to pursue an ivy leage college
... Read more might want to consider sending their kids to a school with more of an emphasis on adademic stimulation and less spirituality. Perhaps it happens in all schools, but it struck me that the students were unnecesarily cruel and offensive to the less popular students. Read less

Good school overall. Kindergarden teacher wonderful. First grade teacher is good but, some children have a hard time with the transition from k to 1st grade. Highly emphasizes mathamatics. ... Read more keep up. Very frustrating for children and parents alike. Especially in the first and second grade. Principal easy to talk with. Teachers highly accessable. Wonderful catholic teachings. Parents encourage to participate in school and take a hands on approach in school activities. Fund raisers are a must and parents are need to help out and participate with booths and clean up. It's a lot of work but, they are always succesful and everyone, especially the kids have lot's of fun. Campus is beautiful, clean, and renovated. The school needs to have a tutoring program after school to help students in seventh and eight grade. Particularly in the areas of Math and Writing. Students appear to be weak in math because lack problem solving skills. Perhaps the school should start dealing with this in the early grades. As a

I never saw my child solving word problems in the early grades nor being trained to developed thinking/problems skills. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
